Our residents have been enjoying the festivities at our D-Day celebrations.
We had plenty of games and decorations and a wonderful afternoon tea. As you can see, there were smiles all round.
Here at Rotherwood Care Home in Rotherham our residents had the most wonderful VE day preparations and celebrations last week.
Andrea and our lovely staff trimmed the home beautifully with all sorts of decorations, including ones made by the residents.
On the day, our staff came in fancy dress and the morning was spent watching old war movies.
Later on we had all sorts of activities and games, including a game of World War II themed skittles, which everyone enjoyed and which got quite competitive!
War-time songs were being played, which residents were singing to along to with our staff and the activities coordinator.
Our thoroughly enjoyable VE Day celebrations were finished off with a lovely buffet tea, along with red, white and blue cupcakes.
Our residents have had a great time recently with Valentines Day craft activities, pet therapy and Valentine’s Day celebrations and party.
Everyone really enjoyed the events and loved the pet therapy. We had Dave Jay entertain us on Valentine’s Day and he even got the staff up singing to the residents, which they all thoroughly enjoyed.
Sandra brought Coco in for pet therapy, which every resident took part in, even our bed bound residents. Coco brought a huge smile to everyone’s faces!

Lost Chord is an innovative charity dedicated to improving the quality of life and well-being of those living with dementia using interactive musical stimuli to increase their general awareness and self esteem.
We invite them into our home to engage with residents through the medium of music. It is always a fun session and great to see our residents light up and participate in the sessions.
