Charnley House Residential Care Home Hyde
Albert Road, Hyde, Tameside SK14 1DH
Charnley House Care Home has been providing quality care for the elderly is a purpose designed care home for the elderly located in Hyde, Tameside since 1969. We take residents from anywhere in the country but our usual catchment areas tend to be Tameside, Stockport, Manchester, Cheshire and Derbyshire and the North West.
The premises has been designed and furnished to provide a homely environment. An excellent level of care is provided by our highly trained staff and our meals are freshly made on the premises 4 times a day. We care like you do.
We provide 24 hour residential care for our residents in a safe and secure environment with good home cooked fresh food and an extensive social calendar. We provide quality care home facilities and have been doing so since 1969, and have been family ran and operated by the same family in all that time. In fact we are the longest established family ran care home in Hyde, and unlike some of our competitors our business owns the building we operate from and we are financially stable.
We have our own domestic staff 7 days a week who make sure that the home is clean and comfortable. Our care staff are on hand 24 hours a day to help as much or as little as needed on a day to day basis.
We offer long term care and short term (respite) care for the elderly. Charnley House is registered with the CQC for dementia care and old age care, unlike some other homes we do not have agency or contracted staff, and the vast majority of our care staff have NVQs in care. The average time our staff spend working at Charnley House is almost 9 years which we really feel gives a very good service. Meet some of our people. Residents can use as much or as little of our care as they need.
We have excellent and comfortable full furnished bedrooms, and some fantastic communal areas where residents are free to relax or socialise with friends and family. Residents are free to personalise their space how they want and we are on-hand to help how we can. Deciding if a loved one requires residential care can be a difficult decision to make, we are on hand to help and often a week's short term stay can help assess the need for care.
Statement From Our Directors:
"As a prudent and reflective provider of care we always take seriously any concern raised about our service.
Unfortunately, when we received the CQC’s latest draft inspection report, we found that it contained a number of factual inaccuracies, disproportionate judgements and failed to include some positive evidence relating to our service. In addition, we had very serious concerns about the way that the inspection team conducted its review.
On this basis, we felt that we had no option but to engage the support of a legal representative to help to produce and submit detailed comments and corrections on the draft report and to lodge a complaint about what we saw as concerning, unprofessional conduct on the part of the CQC inspection team.
Despite our comprehensive submission and supporting evidence, the CQC did not make any substantive changes to the final report, which we feel does not accurately reflect our service. We do not feel that the inspection report published by the CQC is a reliable document.
We have not yet received a detailed response to our complaint, which is very disappointing.
There are areas of the final inspection report that did correctly demonstrate that some minor improvements were needed. Those changes were made on the day of the inspection as soon as they were pointed out, or shortly thereafter.
Again, it is disappointing that those changes were not fully reflected in the final version. We take our duty to constantly improve and learn very seriously and will always react positively and proactively to accurate and substantiated criticism. We hope that the next inspection of the service is a more positive experience and restores the home’s “Good” rating."
