All our residents enjoyed a Easter Buffet tea followed by Easter cupcakes which were made by our wonderful cook, Pauline. These went down a treat!
Luckily the weather has been very kind to us these last couple of weeks and our residents have been enjoying the garden and wildlife under the umbrellas. Joan and Lydia have been taking advantage of the lovely weather and sitting out in the garden very frequently.
Celebrations have been ongoing with birthdays:
Steven, a staff member, worked all day on his birthday and everyone enjoyed a slice of cake to celebrate! Our staff member, Heather, celebrates her birthday on 23rd April.
Dot (Resident) had her birthday on 21st April. She enjoyed a day of celebrations with her family coming to see her and chatting to her through the lounge window. Dot also had 2 cakes and a buffet tea was enjoyed by all.
Dot’s Birthday
Residents have also been keeping in contact with their families on the phone, which they all enjoy. Lydia, Dot and Liz continue to call their families on their own mobiles. Some Relatives have driven up to the home and spoken to their loved ones through the open windows, whilst obviously observing social distancing guidelines.
We have received some kind donations from a staff member's family for all staff as an appreciation of their hard work and dedication, especially at this difficult time. We would also like to thank Chesterfield Royal Hospital for donating a “Dettol Anti-Bacterial” pack to all Staff which was very gratefully received.
Our residents have also been clapping for carers on a weekly basis...
Everyone has been colouring in some more rainbows and we are going to design a rainbow cascade along the notice boards and lounge doorways.
We have proudly displayed messages from relatives and friends on our main notice board for all to read – more will be added!
Over the next few days residents will be painting their own mugs. Pictures of these will follow in our next update.
