Easter Treats and Tasty Bakes

We kicked things off with a delightful Easter baking session, where residents rolled up their sleeves to make crispy chocolate Easter buns. There was plenty of laughter as we stirred, shaped, and of course sampled, the delicious creations. Everyone enjoyed tucking into the sweet treats with a well-earned cup of tea afterwards.

Supersized Fun: Giant Snakes and Ladders

Bringing out our playful sides, we had a wonderful time playing a giant game of Snakes and Ladders, complete with oversized dice! The room was filled with cheers and friendly competition as we moved across the large game board, enjoying the novelty and excitement of the game.

St George’s Day Sweet Celebrations

To mark St George’s Day, we treated our residents to something special – indulgent hot chocolates topped with lashings of squirty cream and a generous helping of sprinkles. The celebration wouldn’t have been complete without some beautifully decorated cupcakes, lovingly enjoyed while reminiscing about past festivities.

Soaking Up the Sunshine

With the recent spell of warm weather, we’ve been making the most of our lovely garden. Residents relaxed outdoors with cool, refreshing drinks and soaked up the sunshine, enjoying nature, chatting with friends, and listening to birdsong. These peaceful moments are a wonderful way to unwind and lift everyone’s spirits.

Getting Creative for VE Day

Preparations were well underway for our VE Day celebrations! Residents and staff have been busy decorating both cakes and the care home itself, adding a patriotic flair with bunting and handmade crafts. The sense of pride and community is palpable as we got ready to commemorate this special day together.

At Charnley House, we believe that every day offers an opportunity to create joy, celebrate life, and make memories. It’s been a truly heartwarming few weeks, and we’re already looking forward to what’s next on the calendar!

Spring Sunshine and Special Celebrations at Rotherwood Care Home

It’s been a joyful few weeks here at Rotherwood Care Home, with plenty of sunshine and smiles to go around!

We were delighted to celebrate a very special milestone recently – a wonderful 91st birthday! Our resident was joined by loved ones for a lovely afternoon party, complete with cake, laughter, and cherished memories. It was heart-warming to see everyone come together to mark such a special occasion.

With the weather treating us kindly, we’ve been making the most of our beautiful outdoor space. Residents have been enjoying fresh air and sunshine with a cuppa and a slice of cake in hand – the perfect way to spend a spring afternoon. We also made a trip to the local club for a drink outside, bringing a little extra fun and freedom to the week.

Moments like these make Rotherwood feel like home – full of friendship, fresh air, and plenty of reasons to smile.

Fun, Flowers, and a Bit of Boogie at Charnley House!

It’s been a fun and activity-packed time here at Charnley House, with our residents enjoying a variety of sessions that brought smiles, laughter, and a few impressive skills to the surface!

We kicked things off with some balloon fun – our residents loved throwing colourful balloons onto a playground parachute, bouncing them between each other and sharing plenty of giggles along the way.

Next up, we turned up the music and had a dance session to the classic sounds of The Drifters. There was toe-tapping, hip-swaying, and lots of laughter as everyone joined in for a boogie. It’s safe to say, we’ve still got the moves!

We also enjoyed a calming and creative afternoon of flower arranging. With a lovely selection of fresh blooms, our residents crafted beautiful bouquets, each one as unique and vibrant as the person who made it. The lounge has never looked (or smelled!) so good.

To round off the week, we had a go at ring toss. It was all in good fun, and we even handed out little prizes to everyone who gave it a try. Truth be told, the residents were much better at it than we were!

care home Rotherham - trip to Clifton Park 1

Spring Adventures at Rotherwood Care Home

Last week, we made the most of the spring sunshine with a lovely walk to Clifton Park. Our residents enjoyed a peaceful stroll through the beautiful Clifton Park Gardens before heading into the museum for a wander around the exhibits. We rounded off the morning with a well-deserved coffee and slice of cake, before returning home to Rotherwood where a delicious chicken lunch was waiting for us.

Later in the week, some of our lovely ladies headed out for a shopping trip to the local supermarket. There were plenty of smiles as they enjoyed browsing the clothing section—and even treating themselves to something new! A stop at Greggs for a bite to eat and a good natter made the day extra special.
