A visit from the Grinch at Charnley House care home in Hyde

A Festive Visit from the Grinch at Charnley House

Christmas came early to Charnley House care home in Hyde, with a surprise visit from none other than the Grinch himself! Residents were thrilled to spend a magical afternoon with the beloved (and slightly mischievous) character, who brought plenty of fun and festive cheer.

The Grinch may be famous for his grouchy demeanour, but he showed his softer side as he handed out chocolates and warm hugs to the delighted residents. Laughter filled the room as he shared jokes and showcased a few playful tricks that had everyone grinning from ear to ear.

The visit was a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season and left a lasting impression on everyone at Charnley House. It was heartwarming to see the smiles that this special event brought to residents and staff alike.

At Charnley House, creating cherished memories and fostering a sense of community is at the heart of what we do. This unforgettable afternoon with the Grinch was a perfect example of how we make every moment count, especially during the most wonderful time of the year.

Christmas Festivities at Charnley House

The festive season is truly magical here at Charnley House. In the run-up to Christmas, our residents, staff, and visitors have been embracing the holiday spirit with plenty of fun, laughter, and togetherness. Here’s a glimpse into what we’ve been up to this December!

Cherished Christmas Visits

There’s nothing quite like spending time with loved ones, and our Christmas visits have been a highlight for residents and their families. It’s heart-warming to see the joy on everyone’s faces as they come together to celebrate the season. Our residents loved posing for pictures with their families in front of our festive decorations – memories to treasure forever!

Festive Baking Fun

The smell of Christmas filled the air as our residents got creative in the kitchen. Together, we made delightful puff pastry Christmas trees filled with Nutella, bringing smiles and plenty of sticky fingers! Baking is always a favourite activity here, and this time, it was made even more special by the festive cheer in the room.

Decking the Halls

Our home is looking extra festive this year, thanks to our residents and staff. Together, we decorated our Christmas trees and created a cozy Christmas fireplace centrepiece that has become the heart of our celebrations. Everyone pitched in, whether it was hanging ornaments or putting the finishing touches on the décor.

Weekly Hairdresser Visits

Looking and feeling our best is important, especially during the holidays! Our residents enjoy their weekly trips to the hairdresser, and the festive season is the perfect time for a little extra pampering. With everyone feeling fresh and fabulous, we’re ready to celebrate Christmas in style.

A Rockin’ Christmas Party

The highlight of the season was our Christmas party day, where we were treated to a very special performance from “Elvis.” His lively set had everyone clapping, singing along, and even dancing! It’s always a pleasure to host such incredible entertainment, and this year’s party was certainly one to remember.

Wishing You a Merry Christmas

At Charnley House, Christmas is all about making meaningful connections and creating unforgettable memories. We hope you’ve enjoyed this peek into our festive activities.

From all of us at Charnley House, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Morton Manor Makes A Splash At The Great British Care Awards!

The Great British Care Awards

It is with great pleasure that we announce that two members of our team here at Morton Manor have been shortlisted as finalists in The Great British Care Awards!

Our Manager, Jackie McCormick is a finalist for The Care Home Registered Manager Award and Teresa’s Ladley is a finalist for The Care Home Cook/Chef Award.

The Great British Care Awards are a series of regional events throughout the UK and are a celebration  of excellence across the care sector.  The purpose of the awards are to pay tribute to those individuals who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work.

There are twenty one awards categories available for nomination, which represent all areas of the social care sector, whether it be older people or specialist services, residential or home care. From frontline staff such as care workers and care managers to people who have made an impact in other ways such as training and innovation.

The awards are  all inclusive, bringing together the statutory, independent and voluntary sectors, as well as unpaid carers; promoting joint working.  Working in partnership with care partners and local care associations is at the heart of the initiative; working and linking directly with local managers and networks to further promote the event.

Congratulations to both members of our team!

One of our residents celebrated his 65th wedding anniversary last week, but with the current situation, was unable to celebrate with his dear wife. Instead, he made this sign and sent the picture to his wife. What a lovely message! Congratulations on your 65 years together!
