A Lovely Few Weeks at Charney House

Residents at Charney House Care Home in Hyde Greater Manchester have been making the most of the recent lovely weather with a wonderful mix of activities, treats and time spent together.

The sunshine gave everyone the perfect excuse to enjoy some garden time, with residents relaxing outdoors, chatting, and soaking up the fresh air. There is always something special about being outside when the weather is bright, and our garden has been a lovely place to unwind.

We have also enjoyed a classic cream tea, complete with delicious scones served with jam and cream. It was a real treat and brought plenty of smiles, as everyone tucked in and enjoyed a proper afternoon indulgence.

One of the highlights was a peaceful boat trip down the canal. Residents loved watching the scenery go by, enjoying the gentle pace of the water and spending time together in such a calming setting.

Back at Charney House, we also held a cheese tasting day with crackers, giving residents the chance to try different flavours and share their favourites. It was a fun and sociable afternoon, with lots of conversation around the table.

Our green-fingered residents have also been busy planting bulbs in trays, ready to go into the garden once they have grown. It has been lovely to see everyone getting involved and looking forward to the colour these plants will bring in the weeks ahead.

From canal trips and cream teas to gardening and time in the sunshine, it has been a busy and happy time at Charney House, full of shared moments and simple pleasures.

Valentines Day entertainment

Valentine’s Day Music and Dancing at Charnley House

Charnley House was filled with music, laughter and plenty of dancing as we celebrated Valentine’s Day with a special live performance from a wonderful singing duo.

Residents and staff gathered together to enjoy an uplifting set of well-loved songs, with many joining in by clapping, singing along and getting up for a dance. Tambourines and other percussion instruments were soon in action too, adding an extra bit of sparkle and helping everyone feel part of the performance.

It was a fantastic afternoon of togetherness and feel-good fun, with lots of smiles captured in the photos as residents and team members enjoyed the moment side-by-side. Days like this are a lovely reminder of how music can bring people together, lift spirits, and create memories that last long after the final song.

Thank you to the duo for helping us mark Valentine’s Day in such a joyful way. We’re already looking forward to the next visit!
