A Fun-Filled Month at Charnley House: Our Recent Activities

At Charnley House Care Home, we believe that every day should be filled with laughter, creativity, and connection. Recently, our residents have been busy taking part in a variety of engaging activities, each bringing smiles, cherished memories, and a true sense of community. Here’s a peek at what we’ve been up to! (Please click on the thumbnails to view the full sized images)

Singing and Dancing Delight

We kicked off the month with a lively singing and dancing session, with a special guest joining us – one of our resident’s daughters. Her lovely presence and energy brought joy to the whole home. The room was filled with music and laughter as our residents showed off their moves. Whether it was swaying gently to the tunes or tapping along, everyone had a fantastic time together. It was a truly heartwarming sight!

A Visit to Oaklands Hall

As part of our regular outings, we enjoyed our monthly trip to Oaklands Hall. It’s always a treat to get out and have a change of scenery. The day included a delightful two-course meal, with residents indulging in delicious food and refreshing drinks. There’s nothing quite like a day spent in great company with good food to make everyone feel content and refreshed.

Pampering at the Hairdresser

Our weekly trip to the hairdresser remains one of the most popular activities! Our residents always look forward to being pampered, getting fresh new styles, and enjoying a little one-on-one time with the talented stylists. From trims to curls, everyone leaves feeling rejuvenated and looking their best.

Men’s Hour in the Garden

The (sometimes) lovely summer weather has been the perfect excuse for some of the gentlemen to enjoy some time outdoors. During our “Men’s Hour,” we headed to the garden to soak up the sun and have a good chat. The warmth of the day and the peacefulness of nature made for a relaxing and enjoyable experience for all.

Jigsaw Fun in the Dining Room

A quieter, yet equally fun, activity this month has been our jigsaw puzzle sessions in the dining room. Our residents have been working together to complete beautiful puzzles. It’s been a wonderful way to stimulate our minds while also fostering a sense of teamwork and accomplishment.

The Charnley Olympic Games

With the Olympic spirit in the air, we decided to create our very own Charnley Olympic Games! Our residents participated in events such as the bean bag toss, ring toss, and skittles. The best part? There were no winners or losers – just plenty of fun and laughter as we worked as a team. The spirit of camaraderie was truly on display, and everyone had a fantastic time trying their hand at the different games.

World Photo Day – Funny Faces Galore!

On August 19th, we celebrated World Photo Day by having a little fun with the camera. Our residents showed off their playful sides by pulling funny faces for the photos. The results were absolutely delightful, and the laughter that filled the home was contagious. These photos will be cherished as a reminder of how important it is to let loose and enjoy life’s lighter moments.

A Visit from Tigger the Rabbit

Last but certainly not least, we had a special visitor this month – Tigger, a beautiful and friendly rabbit. Tigger was an instant hit with the residents, and many of them enjoyed stroking or holding the gentle creature. Tigger’s calming presence brought so much happiness and peace to everyone, proving that sometimes, the smallest visitors can leave the biggest impressions!

It’s been a truly wonderful time at Charnley House this month, and we’re so happy to share these special moments with our residents. Each activity, whether big or small, brings our community closer together and keeps our spirits high. We look forward to creating many more unforgettable memories in the coming weeks!

The King’s Coronation & more…

Charnley House has been a hive of activity over the past few weeks, with an especially busy week in the run up to the King’s Coronation.

We made decorations and baked red white and blue cupcakes and had a fantastic picnic lunch to celebrate. We all watched the Coronation and celebrations with sheer delight, and a little glass of fizz to accompany, and waved our flags along the way!

We’ve also been baking cornflake cakes and googly eyed cupcakes and enjoyed doing a spot of gardening in our outdoor planters.
