A Peek into Our Recent Activities at Charnley House Care Home in Hyde

At Charnley House Residential Care Home in Hyde, we believe in filling our days with joy, creativity, and a dash of deliciousness. Over the past few weeks, our residents have been engaging in a variety of activities designed to bring smiles, spark creativity, and foster a sense of community. Here’s a glimpse into the fun and heartwarming moments we’ve shared.

Balloon Games: A Burst of Laughter

We kicked off our activities with some fun balloon games. The laughter and excitement filled the air as residents batted balloons back and forth, proving that joy truly knows no age. These games not only provided a lot of laughs but also encouraged gentle physical activity and camaraderie among our residents.

Milkshake and Fruit Afternoon: A Sweet Treat

Our milkshake and fruit afternoon was a refreshing delight. Residents enjoyed custom-making their milkshakes with a variety of fruits and flavours, followed by a healthy and tasty fruit snack. This activity was not just a treat for the taste buds but also a great way to reminisce about favourite flavours and share stories.

Crafting Valentine’s Cards: Spreading Love

With Valentine’s Day around the corner, our residents got creative by crafting beautiful Valentine’s cards. These handmade tokens of affection were not just a way to express love and friendship; they also sparked conversations about cherished memories and loved ones.

Colouring Sessions: A Splash of Creativity

Our colouring sessions offered a peaceful and therapeutic escape, as residents immersed themselves in the world of colours. Focusing on intricate designs and patterns, everyone found a sense of calm and accomplishment in their artwork.

Baking Shortcake: Sweet Scents and Memories

Baking shortcake together brought back nostalgic memories and filled our home with the sweet scent of buttery goodness. Residents enjoyed mixing, rolling, and tasting, resulting in delicious shortcakes that were shared with great pride and joy.

Making Pizzas for National Pizza Day: Chefs in Action

To celebrate National Pizza Day, our residents turned into pizza chefs, crafting their own pizzas with a variety of toppings. This activity was not just about making pizzas but about celebrating individual tastes and enjoying the fruits of our labour together.

At Charnley House, these activities are more than just pastimes. They are opportunities for our residents to engage, connect, and create new memories. Each laugh shared, card crafted, and pizza baked is a testament to the vibrant community spirit that makes Charnley House a truly special place to call home.

Stay tuned for more stories and updates from Charnley House, where every day is an opportunity to celebrate life and the connections that make it meaningful.

Violins and Ice Cream!

We've had a fantastic time here at Charley House over the last few weeks.

Everyone had a wonderful time when Helen the violinist visited us and played us a range of lovely music. The residents and staff enjoyed it so much that they got up to dance! Take a look at the images and videos below.

We've also had men's hour in the garden, where we have spend some time in our garden with some of the gents, enjoying the sunshine and reminiscing about past holidays.

And, finally,  we had a visit from the Ice Cream man. The local ice cream van came to visit and our residents all enjoyed a 99 with a flake, whilst sitting outside lapping up the beautiful sunshine.

The Cat With No Name and Activities At Charnley House

Our residents have been enjoying the company of a lifelike toy cat! The cat has been donated by The Rotary club of Hyde. He purrs, cleans his paws and turns on his back for a belly rub. He has settled in really well and the residents love him The only thing is, he needs a name! We have asked all the residents what they would like him to be called and all of the names will be going in a hat and drawn at random. The name will be revealed soon.

We’ve been able to have some visits recently, which have gone down very well after such a long time with no relatives allowed. Our residents have also been enjoying games of soft ball. As you can see, it’s a highly contested sport!
